Elway to finally work with Tebow

10:19 AM ET 12.17 | John Elway, who sits stoically at the stadium in his luxury suite upstairs, ultimately must decide if Tim Tebow is the future face of the franchise at quarterback. John even has been accused, wrongly, of jealousy because of Tim's ballooning and booming popularity, his comebacks, his challenge to the throne of pre-eminent athletic greatness in Colorado. In truth, Elway is being cautious, circumspect and careful in public, and he is not certain in private. He claimed to be misinterpreted on his own radio show when it seemed he didn't support Tebow, while he continues to assert, as he first told me in May, "I'm Timmy's biggest fan," which John Fox also says he is. Elway said this week he fully intends to work with Tebow on the field during the offseason - the exec VP's first admission that Tebow will return in some capacity.

If the guy is winning, you have to stick with him. It will be interesting to see how they fair against the Pats this weekend.

If Elboy doesn't keep Tebow, it may cost Elway his job.

Elway is the undisputed king of Denver. His brand is everywhere, car dealerships, restaurants, etc.

Tebow hasn't won a championship. Tebow hasn't won a playoff game. Elway has enough ego to share limelight.

Not car dealerships...That ended in 2006. He does still own 3 auto dealerships in CA.

Cause all he does is win

Anyone who believes this crock spewed by the Post, well, you've got another *think* coming. Big John is being dragged, kicking and screaming, into Tebowland. He was made the starter hoping he would fail and the fans would stop asking for him, but that plan failed immeasurably.

Elway is between a rock and a hard place. He doesn't control this situation and he knows it.

Tebow has all the intangibles except for good decision making ability in a pro style offense. He has all the physical abilities except for throwing accuracy.

The problem is that decision making and throwing accuracy are generally the two most important attributes front offices look for in a franchise quarterback.

If John Elway didn't have his doubts, he wouldn't be doing his job.

Elway really hasn't a choice -- go with what is working for the team ... big test for Tebow this weekend ... Go PACK!!

December 17, 2011  10:52 AM ET

Yeah, Elway is patiently waiting for Tebow to fail consistantly so that he can finally scrap him. In the meantime it will set the program back a couple of years

How many Super Bowls did Elway lose?

Tebow is making Elway look like a good GM.

I disagree. Elbow has gone the record stating Tebow is not the "drop-back" NFL style QB the team needs. Elway is as much of a rookie GM as Tebow is as a QB. I've lost some respect for Elway as a GM for not looking at the whole picture.

Go PACK GO

Yep... Just ask Skip Bayless:

That look on Elway's face is disgust, not nurturing concern. The clock is ticking on this fiasco.

How many great receivers OL's or RB's did Elway have on those losing SB teams? Elway got them to those SB's in spite of the overall quality of those teams. If you want to blame a QB for losing SB's, try Tarkington. Denver finally won some SB's when Eway had a running game with Terrell Davis. For most of his career, Elway was a great QB on a mediocre team.
