Jaguars looking at Edsall?

08:10 AM ET 12.18 | A darkhorse candidate for the Jaguars job is Maryland coach Randy Edsall. It may be tough to hire a coach who is coming off a 2-10 season, but there is some sentiment in the Jaguars offices that Edsall would be a fit. Edsall coached Jaguars defensive backs for four seasons and is respected by members of the front office. He is a Tom Coughlin disciple who coached under the former Jaguars coach at three stops, and also played for him at Syracuse.

He sure isn't doing anything in College Park... Take the uniforms with you.

It may be a better choice than simply looking at the usual list of retreads from other NFL teams. Jacksonville certainly needs something to spark them.

Not a very stunning resume, but at least he's not a washed up recycle.

Morning Chico, Think your Skins are up to help save the Cowboys season today?

December 18, 2011  08:53 AM ET

2-10? He does sound like a fit for the Jags, but do they really want to stay bad?

December 18, 2011  08:55 AM ET

As a Virginia fan, I hope this doesn't happen - Edsall is a miserable failure in College Park, and I hope he says for many, many years. However, as a Texans fan I endorse the idea wholeheartedly.

Sounds more like a ready for the wash cycle recruit

A broken down Edsel aspiring to become a Jaguar. How clever

I agree with you that some guys are just retreads and have had their chance, but I think they should find an up and comer who has actually done something.

Nicely done.

This is it for Sunday morning? The interns must be on their Christmas break...

Florida, the clearing house for prospective NFL Head Coaches.
The Jags, Bucs, Dolphins. I say let them form their own division next year, the winner stays in the NFL, the other two? Not so much.

Two down, one to go. And Raheem Morris seems to be hanging on by a thread at this point.

Is the UFL still going? Maybe promote the best in the UFL and demote the worst in the NFL?

Hearing that he gets the ax on Monday wouldn't surprise me

It is... Denny Green, Jim Fassel and Marty Schottenheimer have all found homes there. The latter two have won championships in that league.

He should if what I saw last night was his guys playing for his job.
Arguably the worst team in the NFL. Certainly the team that has regressed the most.
The best QB in Florida is most likely on his winter break from high school thinking about his Junior Prom.

It's a little like the Land of Misfit Toys down there this season.
