Lack of carries upsets Vikes star

08:00 AM ET 12.19 | Adrian Peterson, a question mark early last week, had questions of his own Sunday. [Peterson] admitted he wasn't happy about getting only 10 carries in the Minnesota Vikings' 42-20 loss Sunday to the New Orleans Saints at the Metrodome. ... "I don't know how to explain 10 carries," said Peterson. ... "I just do my job when I'm called upon. I go out there and try to execute. The game, we got behind, so we kind of had to turn more into a passing team but that didn't work either." Asked if he was upset, Peterson said: "A little bit. (I) finally get back. But then again we got down so we had to start passing the (ball) a little more. It was more understandable then. I don't know. I don't know what goes through the coaches' mind.

AP is obviously unappreciated by his bosses in Minnesota.

He should be traded somewhere where his talents would be better applied.

Of course, I would love him to come to Dallas but running the ball is a foreign science to these guys.

The Vikings are leaving their sword sheathed and fighting with nail clippers, instead. Even from behind, AP is more likely to break a big play than their passing game.

December 19, 2011  08:50 AM ET

AP is just trying to deflect some of Minnesota's woes this season away from himself...

Great player, lousy team. It's a shame that happens.

I wonder if he's got yardage and carries incentives in his contract. Not getting his number called could have financial consequences for the guy, too. And if the front office is telling the HC and OC to limit AP's carries so they don't have to cough up the bonus dollars, well, they suck big time.

December 19, 2011  09:13 AM ET

Coming off a injury that kept him from playing for a few weeks, and He was questionable early last week, the Vikes have nothing to gain by Putting AP back in the game and retaking the focus of their game plan. AP doesn't need the reps or the experience, but Ponders does. If Ponder is going to be the QB of the future, then he has to be the QB of the present and get as much experience as he can. By giving up on this season, this frees Ponder up to take chances he might do if the game and/or season was on the line, as in the whole scheme of things, wins are meaningless this season. If there is no better teacher than making mistakes, then based on the number of mistakes Ponder makes, he is destined for the HOF :P

Webb Might get better results right now, but Webb is not the Vikes QB of the Future.

It's sad for us in MN to see our Vikings become the Timberwolves of the NFL :P

Come to Pittsburgh Adrian. We would love to have you...

Ouch. Yeah, that would suck.

December 19, 2011  09:53 AM ET

Who cares, your team sucks regardless of how many carries you get......New Flash....Ponder is NOT the answer.

If he's not the answer at FSU, where his team has more talent then 90% of the competition he plays against....he sure as hell isn't the answer in Minnesota.

December 19, 2011  10:02 AM ET

Its AD. Not AP. Get it right.

December 19, 2011  10:11 AM ET

As a fantasy owner, I'm upset too.

December 19, 2011  10:17 AM ET

Should probably shut him down and save him for next year as they have no shot of coming out of the season with anything possitive. Backs only have so many hits in them.

December 19, 2011  10:22 AM ET

Its AD, not AP. Get it right.

December 19, 2011  10:26 AM ET

Isn't he still getting paid? Much more than he is worth seems to me...

December 19, 2011  10:37 AM ET

A lot of angry people and it's only Monday

December 19, 2011  10:49 AM ET

oh wah.....shut up!

He was asked the question...whats wrong with a man expressing his frustration at work? I think we all do it..

December 19, 2011  10:51 AM ET

Hard to commit to the run when you're down by double digits early. Just shut up and take the rock when they give it to you.
