08:13 AM ET 12.19 | The Indians have had serious talks with Mike Cameron, the former Gold Glove outfielder. Cameron, who turns 39 next month, batted only .203 with nine homers and 27 RBI in 237 at-bats last season between Boston and Florida. He hit .245 (.754 OPS) with five homers in 133 at-bats after the All-Star break. Why Cameron? He could provide depth in center in case Grady Sizemore's physical problems continue. ... The Tribe also has talked to Andy LaRoche, who is a career .226 hitter (.642 OPS) in 1,180 big league at-bats. He is mostly a third baseman. At 28, he could fill that spot at Class AAA. Cameron and LaRoche will probably receive minor-league deals if they are signed.

Ha! Although I suspect even in retirement that Otis could still hit at least .203!

That's a good question, Ray. I suppose, being that the Indians are poor as ****, it has something to do with the fact hat they'll probably be able to pay him with some free Indians gear.
Another good question regarding Cameron is why a deep pocketted team like the Red Sox would have had the oft injured outfielder on their rooster as insurance for an injured outfielder?

That was Theo being Theo. I can't believe the Sox paid him $12mil for the time he was there. Nava and Darnell Mcdonald capably filled in for him and the major league minimums.
