Sabres will test definition of rock bottom

08:22 AM ET 12.19 | These are hard times for Buffalo, which on Saturday kicked off a three-game road trip with an 8-3 loss in Pittsburgh. Simply put, the Sabres are a mess. The players keep saying they need to work harder, then forget to do it. The former all-world goaltender is near the bottom of the NHL in every category. The coach continues to stare at his long injured list. ... They'd probably like to think they've hit rock bottom, but have they? They aren't getting any healthier, with Tyler Ennis and Colin Stuart getting hurt in Pittsburgh to bring the injured list to nine. Ryan Miller played one of the worst games of his career and no longer carries the "best goalie on the planet" mystique and intimidation into games.

When did Ryan Miller ever carry the "best goalie on the planet" mystique? I missed the memo.

I was at this game. (Malkin played great, I do admit.)

The fans started to boo Miller, chanted his name, blah, blah. Not many. Just some. I refuse. I don't/didn't forget how this same goalie almost won us the Gold, and at least won us the Silver when some "experts" predicted us to place somewhere near, what? Seventh?

He is having a bad year/season. His defense doesn't help matters at times, but I don't think anyone should give up on him, nor this team in general. Injuries haven't helped matters.

Except for that whole, coach only speaks English issue. La Presse is going nuts on this one.

I seem to recall a season two years ago where people were saying Thomas fell off, Rask started 45 games, and the torch seemingly was being passed in Boston. Fast-forward a year, things were very, very different..

In fairness, Thomas was injured.

Now, they are #2 and #3 in GAA and SV%.

Not a bad problem to have.

At least he speaks English. We're not sure what's spoken in Calgary.

Miller hasn't been the same goalie since he took the hit from Lucic.

Yet another reason to wipe that part of the country off the map. These people are a joke.

Well, you're in a mood today.

Doesn't matter who your coach is when your GM hands him a roster like that. IMO they should have fired the GM after that last trade. Should have been fired that very day. I'm not a big Martin fan, but seriously, he wasn't given a whole lot to work with. You got some extremely overpaid players that are preventing you from signing some star talent. That's the GM's fault not Martin's.

when it comes to questions like these, the correct answer is always Detroit.

Maybe Ryan's hurt too?

I don't think he was the greatest to begin with. He's very good, but the whole idea of him being the best on the planet is laughable.
