08:06 AM ET 12.19 | Perhaps a little something, such as the lockout, took too much of basketball fans' collective bandwidth. Now that he's an NBA champion, forward Shawn Marion wants people to address him differently. "I want y'all to address me like that from now on -- world champion," Marion said. Marion is upset that the national media has overlooked the defending world champion Mavs and don't believe they have a chance of winning this season's title. "We've gotten to the point where everybody started overlooking us and talking about everybody else and I kind of got [upset] about it," Marion said. ... "Everybody on this team has earned the right to be addressed as world champions, so everybody address us like that."

No problem Shawn... you World Champion...

December 19, 2011  10:52 AM ET

OK Shawn, you're a champion. The Mavericks problem is that Cuban is now satisfied. At the end of the season, Tyson Chandler and Barea were a priority. With both of them gone the Mavericks have gone back to also-rans.

$15M / year X 4 years for Chandler ... overpaid.

$4.7M / year X 4 years for JJ (who is 3rd string PG for Wolves right now) ... too much.

slow down... the shot is ugly, but he's a career 17 and 9, almost 50% from the field, solid defender... the dude was a beast in his prime and put up big numbers.

I hate it when people claim NBA champions are "World Champions", USA and Toronto is clearly not the world. Then Euroleague champ won the Lakers 2 years ago in a highly competitive game. The world champions talk is old. But hey, im just a grumpy foreigner lol.
