08:09 AM ET 12.20 | Pinched up front with the unfortunate Darrell Arthur news, Memphis is reportedly looking at potential additions. The Grizzlies are preparing an offer sheet for Charlotte Bobcats restricted free agent Dante Cunningham, and team officials have held trade discussions with the Philadelphia 76ers as a response to [Arthur's] season-ending Achilles injury. ... [Memphis] is in the market for two frontcourt players. Cunningham is viewed as a close replacement for Arthur, and the Griz also have 76ers versatile big man Marresse Speights on their radar, according to sources with knowledge of the Grizzlies' thinking. Cunningham, 24, is a 6-8 forward who is not as potent offensively as Arthur, but is considered versatile.

speights is an interesting player. he can't seem to find a way to get more minutes, which tells me that he's lazy and he has no idea how to play defense, but, his offensive skills are impressive. hopefully, collins can get his head on straight and he can progress this season.

the best thing that could happen to him (which could also be the worst thing that could happen to him) is to be traded to a terrible team who plays him 30 minutes a night and lets him figure it out on the court. i wouldn't be surprised to see him put up 18 and 8 consistently. i also wouldn't be surprised to see him be buried on an nba bench for the rest of his career.

QUOTE(#5):

Speights is pretty good but his knee injury might really hold him back.

don't know... it's been over 2 years since he tore his mcl, so i would assume that they have a firm handle on whether he's lost something or not.

There is know way of replacing Author. He really played well for the griz last season. Most unfortunate but getting anybody who can knock down a shot on occassion and grab some boards to give Randolph and Gasol a break is a must.
