Texas wants Auburn coordinator

Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp has interviewed with Texas coach Mack Brown about joining the Longhorns' staff, and a deal could be reached quickly, according to a source close to the UT program. If Muschamp, 36, joins Brown's staff, he would be the defensive play-caller and coach linebackers. Duane Akina would relinquish play-calling duties and coach the secondary while maintaining a co-coordinator role. Larry Mac Duff, who served as co-coordinator and linebackers coach this season, resigned Wednesday.

This would be a good move for Texas. Auburn will probably reload because that's where we got DC Gene Chizik for a couple of years and we won the NC. If this deal goes through and he's a successful DC at UT, we should at least send Auburn a thank you note.

Report Offensive CommentThis kinda stuff goes on all the time. Look at the new UCLA coach trying to get Ken Norton Jr from USC as Defensive Coordinator. Norton, you'll recall played his college ball at UCLA as well as for the Cowboys and 49er's. This probably would be a good deal for Texas and probably Auburn as well.

Report Offensive CommentHow many points did Georgia hand on this "great coach" and his defense?

Report Offensive CommentJuan) Don't let one game make a coaching descision. If that was the case? Nick Saben and Les Miles would be looking for jobs. I do admire your head coach at Georgia, but don't bash a guys talents over one game. Rich wouldn't make such a comment about another coach. He knows how easily it could come back to haunt you. Especially in the SEC. From a Hog fan, to a Dog fan. One game doesn't mean squat in the SEC. Trust me... we beat LSU, and look how sucked in the Cotten Bowl.

Report Offensive CommentWe will need one on Jan. 8th. Muschamp would be a good hire for just about any program. When Michigan was making a run at Miles and Tuberville was pining for Baton Rouge, I thought that Muschamp would have been a better pick. I certainly think he is a quality coordinator and Texas (or LSU) would be stronger with him.
