06:55 AM ET 12.21 | For weeks, it has appeared to be a foregone conclusion that Andruw Jones would return to the Bronx next season, but that's no longer the certainty it once seemed. The Yankees have stayed in touch with Jones' agent, Scott Boras, but a source said the two sides have not made much progress despite the mutual desire for a reunion. The source added that "several" other teams have expressed interest in the 34-year-old outfielder - one of which is believed to be the rival Red Sox.

Borass trying to get the Yankees to bid against themselves? Wow... I've never seen that before!

December 21, 2011  08:05 AM ET

Yeah, the Red Sox need another play who hits .215 with 25 homers.

I guess the market is slim on right fielders. What about Beltran instead?

I think someone's trying to make the Yankees overpay.

For the right price, Beltran's a good option.

Now that the Darvish sweepstakes is over, a lot of these smaller deals will start to play out. Boston's highest priority is pitching, and there are now a few good options available (Jackson, Kuroda, maybe Oswalt, maybe a spare pitcher from the Rangers...). If they get a good deal for a right fielder along the way, I'm sure they'll consider it.

His stats for last year were .247/.356/.495 (OPS=.851)

That ain't bad...

I can just imagine who that source is. Just what has Jones done the last few seasons to warrent all this interest?

Bogus story.

He got Borass as an agent.

Boston needs to get younger. Andruw Jones? Really?

That pretty much says it all.

....braves and rangers said adios to this guy a few years ago....the fact that the yanks and red sox fake interest even makes it to a newspaper is amusing....

December 21, 2011  09:25 AM ET

Seriously, what is with this POS site?

The new IT group, or whatever it is, sucks ****. I've been a member for over four years and never have the IT issues been as **** and sustained.

I agree. Of course, not quite as amusing as your misguided posts, but amusing nonetheless.

I stopped reading after POS, assuming you were referring to SupidMoron.

That ain't bad? Who was your pick for MVP this year, Coco Crisp?

That ain't good either. Jones best years are suspicious if you ask me. He had a huge dropoff in production at a time he should have been in his prime.

If he could hit his weight he would be worth a lot. They can have him.

Not to be believed.

An .851 OPS would rank him at 31st in MLB, right between Evan Longoria and Michael Young. It's 132 points over the MLB average.

His OBP and SLG were great. His BA left a little to be desired, but as long as he's getting on base at a clip of 36%, who cares?
