Great athletes never make great coaches.

Not to knock goalies but I can't imagine a goalie being a great head coach either. At least as a player, you know systems. As a goaltender, it's very individual.

I would love it if he went there and only spoke English to the press.

They do in soccer all the time. Almost every great soccer coach was once a player. Same in football. I see no reason it can't be possible in hockey.

THREAD HIGHJACK
Engelland hits the dude high, leaves his feet. No call. Scott comes in to stand up for his team mate. 2 minute instigator, 10 minute misconduct on top of the 5 for fighting. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. And to make matters worse, the Pens score on the ensuing BS powerplay.
I find this to be a much more compelling topic than the one discussed as recently as yesterday and then rehashed this morning.
Thoughts?

I thought he was German.
And besides Siegfried would miss him.

It was a dirty hit. No doubt. I can't explain what transpired after, you would have to ask the refs. My guess? Maybe they weren't in the position to see him leave his feet, they don't have the ability to slow down, pause, etc.? However, they saw what Scott did. One of those unfair/unfortunate situations. However, Engelland should get called on the carpet for it. He is a tough player, but NOT a dirty one. He made a careless/stupid hit, and should be punished for it.
I call it like it is, even if it is a player on my team.

A much more nasty play then the one that got the Flames Bourque in hot water, and Bourques hit deserves a suspension

Already commented on it 3 times in earlier threads.
Complete crap.
And as I said, ironically it came shortly after the announcer mentione Matt Cooke only had 5 minors this year and no majors....
