Magic: Knicks will contend for Eastern title

07:00 AM ET 12.21 | Hall of Famer Magic Johnson sees the revamped Knicks struggling early, but predicts they'll be battling the Heat and Bulls for the Eastern Conference crown next spring. "Number one, the biggest challenge, is how do they come together," said Johnson, an ESPN analyst, Tuesday during a conference call. "How do they play as a team? We saw what happened to the Heat early on last year. They were not playing well together, and then they finally caught fire mid-season and into the playoffs. If you're not in sync with one another, the Knicks are going to struggle early, so fans have got to be patient."

I concur... They have an elite front court - as good as any in the league... Come to think of it, I can't think of a better front court than the combo of: Amare, Melo and Chandler in the league?

I expect the Knicks to win the championship this year. Not that I'd be disappointed if we don't or fall short... but if we lose to Miami in the playoffs we need to start rebuilding...

I dunno about the Bulls though. Their style of play is too conservative sorta reminds me of Knicks Van Gundy. Any team that catches fire can light them up and knock them out like Miami did last year.... I mean they're too methodical - almost predictable. I hate watching their team offense... it's boring.

I think people miss a very important fact about chandler. He was a missing piece for dallas that got them over the hump. News flash to all my fellow knick fans. We are NUMEROUS pieces from a chip. So to think chandlers 10points and 9 boards are gonna lead us to a chip you guys are highly delisional.

Didn't seem to be an issue all year last year, and they got slightly better by adding a SG who can get more than 4 a game. With great team D, you can have some issues on the offensive side because the other team is normally only scoring 87 points.
