08:08 AM ET 12.22 | Suns center Marcin Gortat reportedly suffered a "slight non-displaced fracture" on his right thumb Tuesday, but he's aiming to play through the pain. Gortat will sit out Thursday night's preseason finale and not practice before Monday's season opener but will "probably" play the opener while wearing a splint, Suns President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby said. He said Gortat's thumb is expected to take two to three weeks to heal. "I'm going to fight for my spot," Gortat said Tuesday night. "As long as I'm walking and seeing everything in front of me, I'm going to ready to play. I'll be ready for Monday night's game." ... Babby said Gortat remained in considerable pain but indicated that he wants to play through the injury.

I don't quite get Gortat's thinking. I looked up his contract and he's all set till the end of 2014 so I don't see the rush to come play. Afterall it aint like Phoenix will make the playoffs let alone win a championship. Add the fact that Sarver doesn't like to pay players and it just doesn't make sense... heck sit out this season. Get fat. Pull an Eddy Curry on Saver. The only logic behind his desperado to play is an affinity for staring at the cheerleaders **** or taking a shower in the locker room...
