Jan. 25 looms large for Wolves and Love

08:09 AM ET 12.22 | A clock is ticking in Minnesota. Chicago Bulls point guard and 2011 league MVP Derrick Rose on Tuesday agreed to a five-year, $94 million contract, a rare sum for a fourth-year player because of a new labor-agreement written purposely for him. Timberwolves All-Star forward Kevin Love is among those next in line. ... But in a market where big men Marc Gasol, Tyson Chandler and Nene just signed new contracts that will pay them between $13 million and $14 million, Love could receive a maximum contract that would pay him as much as $82 million over five years. "I'm sure we'll be talking about it," Wolves coach Rick Adelman said, referring to team owner Glen Taylor, basketball president David Kahn and other top team executives.

Tough position to be in. He's not a max player but you know there are teams around the league that would pay him. So you either pay him or lose him.

He would look damn good in a Mavs uni... and Cubes would pay the kid.

Only when they're trying to cram a hard cap down the union's throat.

He'd be a 15-8, maybe 18-9 guy on a good team. He has talent and is a good PF, but not a max guy. Not saying he won't get the money, a big ticket team will pay, but when he does cash in the lockout will be for naught, just the same old, same old.

I think Cubano has his eyes on Howard and/or D-Will at first.

As he should... but Love would be a nice consolation prize.

Love should be paid max money just to remain in Minnesota.

I don't believe in god, I don't watch cartoons and I sure hell don't believe in love... but when it comes to money I'm similar to the thriller in Manilla!
