08:02 AM ET 12.22 | Given the chance for a do-over, the Steelers may well make a different decision at quarterback. [Mike Tomlin] hasn't announced his intentions at quarterback publicly or within the organization, but it's widely believed in the front office that Ben Roethlisberger will rest his high ankle sprain Saturday against the St. Louis Rams and could sit out Week 17 as well. Roethlisberger did not practice Wednesday after he was clearly hobbled during Monday night's 20-3 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He was immobile and had to adjust his plant foot on throws to compensate for the injury. ... Even so, Roethlisberger insisted he's doing everything he can to help keep Pittsburgh's title hopes alive.

If You WANT Any chance in the play-offs - you better sit him and get him as healthy as possible

QUOTE(#1):

See the Steelers next season. Their playoffs will be short and sweet.

They have something in common with the NFC East winner.

I agree one hundred percent. That's a tough injury to play on .

This is coming from a Giants fan? I laugh in your general direction.

With one exception, all the NFC east teams have their starting qb healthy at this time

And still don't have 10 wins

Playing Ben on Monday was a huge mistake, obviously he's always going to say he's good to go and Mike shouldn't be listening to him

Rest him for the playoffs! The Steelers can beat the Rams and Browns with Batch at QB anyway. And the worst that can happen is a wild card game, which is very likely even if they win their last two game...

and Roethlisberger is still better than any of them, even when hurt

You know that fact is that there is no provable advantage to being a 1 or 2 seed. Check the record book. Pack won as a 6 last year Steelers won as a 6 and I think the Gmen were the 6 seed the year they won it against the Pats and a 1 seed the year they lost it to the Ravens

Oh please. He had the benefit of a great team around him. Yes he's a good QB but not great.

um.....can't say....he's not comparable to Eli, Romo, and Vick...and out of those 3, Romo and Eli could be comparable with Vick being obviously in his own category.

You're right he's not comparable to them, he's a winner.
