Lack of communication at crux of Crist tranfer

08:34 AM ET 12.23 | Via Twitter, Dayne Crist announced the move many had anticipated. The ultimate destination perhaps wasn't as surprising, though, as how long the plans to transfer had been quietly percolating inside of the Canoga Park, Calif., product. "It was pretty early in the season," Crist said via telephone Thursday. "I think once I realized I wasn't going to have another opportunity at Notre Dame -- and that was pretty early on -- I knew that was the route I was going to go. ... Those close to Crist said it wasn't necessarily the lack of playing time, but a lack of communication from Kelly that coaxed Crist to leave ND with a year of eligibility remaining. All the while, Crist continued to throw his support behind [Tommy Rees].

Outstanding post.

He'll probably start at Kansas next year, but I'm sure they will still be plenty awful.

Give the kid credit. He finished out his time there with class and dignity. "out of respect for my teammates and out of respect for the university" good for him, and I suspect he will get a shot at the next level. Too talented not too.
Is interesting that he does not mention his head coach in listing those things and people he respected.
I wonder who will get in between the HC and Rees next year when Kelly does his rant act on the sideline during games? The grown up just left the room.

Oh what's that Dayne? I can't hear you over the sound of me punching the wall when you fumbled the USC game away.

My wife and son were at that game, and I swear I heard her scream through the TV set when that happened.

...and she took it out on you when she got home?

Actually, no. Unlike many Domers, she has developed a sense of reality about the state of ND football. Not that she likes it, but at least she sees it for what it is.

That chicks tig bitties are larger than the racket she is holding. Plus the racket does not show up for at least 10 minutes.

Ya know, I have always wanted and supported Kelly, even amungst all the negative crap people spew on here. You make a great point though! I also like and respect Dayne's character and class he has displayed throughout the year. My point I guess, is that if this guy had such a bad relationship with Kelly, lack of communication and what I feel to be a short leash, what does that really say about Kelly's integrity? I mean he did pick Crist as the starter, not only did he pull him super quick, but he never really even got another shot to get it back. Most coachs might pull the QB to create a spark if the offense struggles for that long in a game, but they usually go back as the starter the next game...It is interesting!
