07:13 AM ET 12.24 | The Giants, with their New York cache, stable ownership and a franchise quarterback in place, look like the most likely landing spot for Bill Cowher should Tom Coughlin be fired. Don???t, however, rule out the Chargers. I was told this week by an in-the-know source with intimate knowledge of the San Diego sports scene that Cowher already had ???an interview?????? with high-ranking people inside the Chargers organization who were gauging his interest and that he expressed his interest in the job should Norv Turner be fired.

Norv (the guest who wouldn't leave) will stay until the end of the season... where he will most definitely be fired.... AGAIN.

Cowher will see what a shambles San Diego is in and do an "Eli Manning" and pass....

He says he's not leaving CBS. If Cowher speaks the 100 % truth, and the Chargers talked to him, maybe Cowher was giving them his advice on who to seek for a head coach that doesn't include himself.

I'm torn. On one hand I'd like to to Cowher in the NFC East. I think he could restore a little competition there and make all four teams better. On the other hand having him in San Diego keeps him out of our backyard.

The question still remains. AJ Smith and just how much say does he have in it all? Who can, or wants to work with him?

I could see Cowher going to New York but not San Diego.
