08:16 AM ET 12.26 | Carlos Beltran has already returned to work. About 50 or 60 feet from his house in Puerto Rico is a daily reminder of the work [Beltran] needs to put in during the offseason to keep his swing honed and game healthy. Spring training is less than two months away, and yet already he's started taking the short walk to work almost every day this winter. It's hard to avoid a batting cage when it's closer to home than first base. "I like to hit," Beltran said when reached in his native Puerto Rico on Saturday. "Hitting is something that I love to do. And when it's that close there are no excuses." ... The Cards plan to install him as an everyday outfielder and fixture near the top of the order, perhaps batting second.

....and we care about this why??????

Unfortunately, hitting isn't what he needs to work on. He should be turbo-loading on vitamins to see if he can find a way to stay healthy all season.
