Desperation in Denver?

08:05 AM ET 12.27 | Thanks to a measure of timing, the spotlight will shine as harsh as ever this week on Tim Tebow. If Denver can't beat Kansas City and outcast quarterback Kyle Orton with an NFL playoff berth at stake, then it will be the costliest fumble of Broncos executive John Elway's career and rank among the worst blunders in franchise history. It smelled like desperation at Dove Valley on Monday afternoon, so I figured it was a good time to ask Denver coach John Fox: Is Fox confident the better quarterback will be on his side against the Chiefs? "I know we made that decision," replied Fox, well aware his team cut Orton in late November, banking $2.6 million in payroll savings with the transaction. ... "Time will tell."

Elway should have never said anything positive about Tebow.

That KC defense is playing hard for Crennel. This will be an interesting game.

I didn't see the Tebow turnover fest the other day, but from the highlights I caught it looked like the DBs were baiting him and then jumping the routes. Stop throwing the ball into traffic and all should be well.

Wait a minute if the Broncos don't get into the playoffs it will be one of the biggest fumbles in franchise history? Melodramatic much? They started off the year 1-4 and looked destined for a top ten pick in the next draft.... Now they are in the hunt and control their own fate to get into the playoffs, and thats not to shabby for a team no one thought would do much at all this year.

It will not rank among Denver's worst blunders. Orton was wanted out of there badly by fans and management alike, now there are supposedly second thoughts? I doubt it. If he was still with Denver they would still want him out. That being said, I hope Orton gets the last laugh

Seems like a pretty good start on a rebuilding project to me.

That it does. No matter how this shakes out for Denver they have to be happy with the direction this team is headed.

I'm sure they are happy with Tebow. Aside from last week, Tebow has been getting better with every start. And really you can't hold a 4 pick game against Tebow at this point... Brady had a 4 pick game against Buffalo earlier this year.

He wins....he's god's gift to football.....he loses, and he's the most worthless human being on the planet.....can we all just agree on the latter for this bum?

I am not sure why Tebow has to be critiqued on a game by game basis. Meaning, I am not sure why the Denver brass have to constantly answer the same questions about Tebow every week. Tebow is not a good QB. I don't think he ever will be. If his defense doesn't keep the game manageable, Tebow will look awful, just like what happened the past two games.
He has a great heart. Great determination. But if you are a QB and you can't throw a football accurately, you will fail in the NFL football league. There is a full reel of film where Tebow badly misses wide open WR's.

The media has all but killed Tebow. They would have built a statue in his honor for winning 6 straight regardless that his passing stats blew chunks! Hopefully Tebow wasn't listening and can focus on developing his skills and growing into the position. He's a solid young QB and as long as he doesn't start believing his press should have a good career. Should be a good game with KC!!!

When you tailor an offense for a single player, QB or not, it is a recipe for disaster.

And if Denver's defense didn't put Tebow in a position where had to try and make something happen quickly, those picks may not have happened at all.

How does it turn into one of the worst "fumbles" in franchise history? Does anyone at the Denver Post remember the fact that last year was one of the worst, if not the worst, season in franchise history? That a lot of people thought this team would be lucky to win many more than 4 games this season? The fact that they are even in the playoff hunt is a huge step forward.
This team got hot and played over its head for a while. There are still gaping holes talent wise, as has been shown in the last two weeks. Kyle Orton is an unrestricted free agent after Sunday and was going to demand 8 million or more a year to stay in Denver (that's what he told Miami they needed to offer in preseason trade talks, so yeah, that's what he expects). It was time for them to move on and they did. The rebuilding continues in the draft after this season, regardless of the outcome this weekend.
Oh, and beat the freakin' Chefs Sunday!
