Firing Dolphins coach 'simple'

On an unseasonably chilly morning, newly hired Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland coldly said the firing of Cam Cameron and 16 of his assistants wasn't difficult. Well, it was a pretty simple process," Ireland said. "We just felt like in order to move forward and not look back that we needed someone in place that shared the same philosophical compatibilities that we shared." Ireland said his and Parcells' unfamiliarity with Cameron was a factor, as was the franchise-worst 1-15 record.

Cameron can get a job working for Gomer Huckabee!

cameron is getting too much blame. jimmy johnson went 1-15 his first season with the cowboys.

i actually feel bad for cameron...he was given the reigns of a crap team that had more injuries than depth...i think he should have been let go, but it was still a crappy situation from the beginning for him.

SIXTEEN ASSISTANTS?!?!?! How many assistants do NFL teams normally carry?

at least that many, you figure you have a O-coordinator, D-coordinator, and position coaches (QB, RB, TE, WR, LB, DL, OL, DB). that's 10 right there. pluse a special teams coach or two and a strength and conditioning coach

The Niners need an Offensive Co-Ordinator Cam will get that job. He just wasn't suited to be a Head guy.

I wonder what will happen to norv if the chargers flop in the playoffs this year. same with wade in dallas. you have 3 coaches from the charges last year that have that are good as a coordiantors but haven't proven themselves as head coaches. Cameron has bitten the dust. If the chargers and Boys flop, wade and norv may find the same fate.

I think the move that sealed their fate was the trading of Welker, they gave him in change for, basically, nothing and then drafted a guy to do what Welker does really good...

We need Hank Stram.

stupid is as stupid does

Cam's 1-15 is totally different than Jimmy JOhnson's 1-15. Cam was a loser as a coach at Indiana and is really Norv Turner with less success (and acne scars).

The dolphins have managed to bring the arrogance of the Cowboys and tranfer it to miami pretty fast. Cameron inherited a terrible team and had a terrible GM, yet by the end of this dismall season he still hadn't lost the locker room. I understand the firing but i feel for Cameron because his situation was a tough one.

January 4, 2008  08:05 PM ET

JJ did go 1-15 in Dallas his first year, as did Cameron. Now if Cameron could have just found someone as stupid as Mike Lynn, Vikings GM in '89, to give Miami three players and 8 draft picks he would have been set.

cameron has some funny facial expressions. Looks like he just **** in this one.
