08:00 AM ET 12.28 | To cap off what has been a bitterly disappointing season for his teammates, Jason Taylor may be ready to hang up his cleats for good. [Taylor], who has collected more sacks than any player in Dolphins history and is sixth all-time among NFL sack leaders, will play the final game of his 15-year career Sunday. Two team sources confirmed late Tuesday that Taylor has decided this weekend's game against the New York Jets will be his final chance to add to his 139 1/2 career sacks -- a mark that puts Taylor behind only Bruce Smith, Reggie White, Kevin Greene, Chris Doleman and Michael Strahan. It's unknown if Taylor plans to announce his intentions to walk away from the NFL prior to Sunday.

Me too.

Brett ***** with out people noticing.

December 28, 2011  08:42 AM ET

Weird. Apparently Brett 's last name is a curse word. It took out the "F" and replaced it with a "*"

December 28, 2011  08:44 AM ET

Naaah! he just made wrong career choices the last few years... like going to the Jest instead of PATS 2-3 years ago... after the TUNA ran him out of Miami... ...

December 28, 2011  08:44 AM ET

His career started to take a dive when his idea of an off-season workout was to appear on 'Dancing With The Stars'.

+1

That didn't work out too well either... the TUNA made sure he wasn't "dolphin safe" :)

That was the first time he came back from retirement.

Thought the guy already did....what an average player this dude was

Give the man some props... in his prime he was the best DE / OLB in the NFL... hw is 6th all-time in sacks... his talents were just wasted w/ a mostly mediocre PHINS team during his career...

Final games su-ck.

He was a darn good speed rusher in his day, but he was mostly a one trick pony.

He was a pretty good run-stopper plus good TE cover guy when they put him at OLB...

December 28, 2011  10:08 AM ET

He should have retired a few years ago instead the shell of a player he is today!

December 28, 2011  10:11 AM ET

When he was good he was real good.

Agreed, he's currently 6th on the list. That counts, not debatable, it is a fact. The guy always carried himself with class, didn't gripe and moan, took care of his teammates. Classy player. You can joke all day about DWTS; is Rice (GOAT), E Smith (NFL's Leading Rusher ALL time), H Ward all a bunch of scrubs? A bit of maturity and grey in your beard permits a better perspective on this player and his accomplishment(s). My opinion.

Not saying Taylor is one, but two of the mentioned stayed past their...."best before date."
