08:03 AM ET 12.29 | At this point, Terrell Owens would likely take any NFL job. [But] the 49ers appear to be especially ideal for Owens given their thinness at wide receiver (four; two healthy) and the fact they are heading to the playoffs. [On Wednesday], Owens got former Bills teammate Donte Whitner to plug him, via Twitter, as a fit in San Francisco now that Braylon Edwards has departed. Here's Owens: "Let em know if they need me I'm ready homie!! I'm ready 2 take em deep!!" Here's Whitner: "I know u are! And I'm ready to vouch for (you)...and let everyone know how GREAT of a teammate u were in Buffalo!" ... The 49ers, meanwhile, are likely to fill the roster spot by elevating a practice squad player.

How much did Owens pay Whitner to be a tool?

December 29, 2011  08:11 AM ET

Wishful thinking to get a path to the HOF for him... Tain't happenin.

December 29, 2011  08:12 AM ET

So, T.O. wants to go straight to a contender, just in time for the playoffs.

Go figure...

December 29, 2011  08:14 AM ET

After his exit out of SF all those years ago he better be practicing crawling on his belly... shouldn't be too hard for a reptile like him...

December 29, 2011  08:14 AM ET

Remove "Niner" and you could put any team in there. He'd go anywhere.

December 29, 2011  08:22 AM ET

I'll bet it sucks for him to be flat broke. lol

December 29, 2011  08:23 AM ET

He will be a "niner" next December, when he turns 39.

December 29, 2011  08:28 AM ET

TO and the Niners ... if that bridge isn't burned beyond recognition the civil engineers who built it were some impressive individuals.

December 29, 2011  08:30 AM ET

Ok come on over and ruin our Karma!!!

December 29, 2011  08:47 AM ET

Practice squad player > T.O.

December 29, 2011  08:48 AM ET

And I want to win the lottery. Some things just aren't happening.

December 29, 2011  08:52 AM ET

I want to win win the lottery. Some things just aren't happening. Go away TO.

Practice squad player > T.O.

You were a math major in college, weren't you?

December 29, 2011  09:04 AM ET

Why isn't this guy lifting weights in the driveway to show how ready he is?

December 29, 2011  09:09 AM ET

He still doesn't get it.

"Next question!"

December 29, 2011  09:10 AM ET

T.O. - all your baggage has done you in. You are not worth the side-show to bring in and perform like a practice-squad WR. Why in the world would a team subject themselves to this?

He only gets what Drew Rosenhaus feeds him. Kinda like raising mushrooms... keep 'em in the dark and feed 'em BS.

December 29, 2011  09:22 AM ET

Maybe 49'ers should check out Jeff Garcia if they were interested in getting some feedback on what a great time TO was back in those days.

December 29, 2011  09:34 AM ET

This is the most ridiculous thread I've seen in a while, and that's saying a lot. If the Niners take TO back they have zero dignity. The same goes for the Iggles. Fool me once, shame on you, but fool me twice ...
