Hawks risk jumping into mix for Howard

08:19 AM ET 12.29 | According to multiple reports, Atlanta has enough interest in Dwight Howard that it pitched the Magic. [The Hawks] engaged Orlando in trade talks for Howard earlier this month with an offer believed to be headlined by $124 million guard Joe Johnson and swingman Josh Smith. ... The Hawks are not on Howard's short list of preferred trade destinations alongside the Nets, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks, even though Atlanta is his hometown. That's presumably because Howard wants no part of Atlanta's perpetually unsettled ownership situation. The Hawks nonetheless took the risk of pursuing Howard anyway without any assurances about how long he'd be willing to stay.

when will this saga end? why not pack your bags and head to lakerland!

This saga makes Days of Our Lives look like high drama. He's going... he's staying... he might not stay but if he goes it won't be there... or it might be there. Only Howard knows... and really he doesn't know either.

He told his agent where he wants to go... and then told his agent not to tell him what he said until someone else makes up his mind.

They just rid themselves of one massve contract, don't see why they'd take on another

Call me silly.. but until he goes... I think he's staying.

And once he goes... most of us will be pretty sure just where he went in the end....

At this rate I'm sure some NFL teams will be interested too! Jeez what team doesn't want him?

Orlando?

We have hashed this out many times before, but IMO, the Lakers are still the front runner to get Howard, as they have the most talent to offer in a trade.

Why would Howard want to go to Atlanta? He wants a ring and two of the three teams (Lakers and Mavs) that can provide that are interested. If his choices are Orlando and Atlanta, just stay in Orlando.

Hawks' coach Drew has promised not to yell at Dwight.

The Hawks Will Not Soar, Bro.

Dwight Howard should seriously consider Golden State if we wants to make it to the finals. Or wait until Timmeh retires and join the Spurs. But as long as he stays in the East, he will never reach the finals again.

Howard goes! Whether Orlando gets compensated or not remains to be seen (Ala Shaq). I can't wait for Orlando to get another first pick, and start the cycle all over again.

Welcome to the ODL......................Orlando Development League. Left unattended, Otis Smith would lose Mickey Mouse without compensation.
