The best Bruins team ever?

08:32 AM ET 12.30 | The Stanley Cup hangover gave critics reason to consider the Bruins' title run as a bit of a fluke. [Early this season], one NHL general manager told me he wasn't that surprised. ... The Bruins weren't great enough to just waltz back and win. No one would have been. But the Bruins are great right now. This team is better than the one that won the Cup, and it has a chance to be the best Boston team of all-time, enter the playoffs as the favorite this season and remain among the league's elite for years to come. Though the spotlight is on the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers because of the upcoming Winter Classic, don't forget that the real beasts of the East are the B's.

Baba Booey!

Thanks for the input Slouch.

Although the Bruins look like the team to beat, to consider them the best Bruins team of all time is, well, ridiculous. Messrs. 4 and 7 may have a different opinion.

This is certainly the best Bruins team in my lifetime. I wasn't around for the Bobby Orr years.

Better to ask that question when the season is over.

That team's success and popularity was singularly responsible for the explosive growth of youth hockey throughout New England.

They are certainly the creme of the Eastern Conference at the moment. Not sure i'd go as far as to say they are the best Bruins team ever. That's a pretty proud boast.

We all know a 7 games series, or more like 4 7-game series in succession, is a whole different ball game than the regular season. I gotta agree with The Pontiff on this one, better to ask this question at the end when all the smoke clears.

No WC weather or ice condition thread, no Shanahan or suspension thread, all of our expectations were blown out of the water. Not even a Wild thread...

At the very least I would have expected that Bobby Ryan picture with him toeing the puck.

Will you guys pipe down about that. The interns will be feeding us that for the rest of the season.

I don't know if this Bruins team is the best ever, but they are better than they were last year. This year they don't have Kaberle.

Congrats, through December you are the best Bruins team in the last couple decades. If they don't win the cup this awesome display (and it is awesome) over the last few months means nothing.

Kind of Sad that Today's media considers "All-Time" to consist of "as long as they can remember"...

The dude from Yahoo who wrote this certainly looks enough to remember the 70's - but maybe he was covering the Disco beat back then :-)

The Bruins '72' Cup team had 3 future HOF'ers in Orr, Esposito and Bucyk.

Great Teams...

I remember Middleton, O' Reilly, Park and Milbury in the later 70's... Maybe not as skilled as the earlier team - but damn good.

Totally agree. Does anyone remember the beginning of the baseball season when the Red Sox were anointed the best team ever?

... and look what happened to them.

As Robert Mitchum said, as Eddie Coyle, shortly before he was executed gangland style: "Numbah Faw, Bawby Aw. the best evah"
