08:39 AM ET 12.30 | While the new system may not be as elegant, it is proving effective in Washington. [Thursday], when the Capitals are asked about the importance of [Alex Ovechkin and Alexander Semin] staying within Dale Hunter's chip-and-chase system -- like they did in Wednesday night's 4-1 win over the New York Rangers -- they can't stress enough the value of doing it the right way, and not necessarily their way. "Ultimately, if we want to win a Stanley Cup we need them going," Jason Chimera said. "I think they know that. We gave the fans a glimpse of what we could be. Everyone else can be going, but if those two guys are not going our team is pretty useless."

Ovi and Semin? Good luck, mods.

Caps need a little swagger and confidence. I think they earned some of that when they handled the Rags the other night. It looked like the dominant Caps that I've come to see the past few seasons.

That was a pretty good game the Caps put together. Didn't the Rangers play the night before though?

Here's my 3 step plan for success for the Caps.
Step 1. trade Semin to Chicago for Danny Carcillo and a bag of pucks.
Step 2. put Carbomb on the top line and give him 15 minutes a night
Step 3. GOON IT THE **** UP

It's crazy enough to work dudes, you hafta admit that.

ONe good game means nothing. Let's see if Dale Hunter can coach.

When your season is dependent on Semin, you're screwed.

As a Caps fan it's very frustrating to watch what this team is capable of and yet be consistently unable to do. It's downright depressing actually. It'll be interesting to see if the effort they - especially Semin and Ovie - put forth against the Rangers carries over to the Sabres tonight. I'm not holding my breath. Well actually I am........

I think you're on to something. A note of caution however............Bruce B. had a bit part for the Chiefs. I know, I know.....WTF!

That Semin goal was ALL on Richards. He never got the puck deep and tried carrying it over the blue line.

I think you miss Eric Fehr getting all those scrappy secondary goals. Brouwer is just not cutting it.
