I love all the question marks in the post. I know its just the interns being lazy and not going back to edit what they've posted, but I think it reflects the general feeling about Wavery's statements.

If he were any good, I'd call him the "T.O" of hockey. But he is not good.

Did he really get suspended for making rude comments or was there something more? "Sloppy Seconds" just doesn't seem all that bad relative to boarding, etc.

No players want this guy in their dressing room; he's a cancer. I think the guy has good enough skills to be a great role player on any team, but the damage is already done.

The Averhole is the kind of guy the Edmonton Oilers could use in their lineup at about now. With Hordisoft going limp on them just when they need him most, Eager showing nothing in the way of toughness and Sutton serving a perennial suspension (with more to come if Shanahan can help it) the Oilers could use an agitator. They always had one in the past (Tikkanen & Lindsman come to mind). They sure can use one right now. And ... since he played for Renney, it seems like a good fit.

There seems to be a shortage of that particular quality among the "veterans" in Edmonton these days. Aside from Ryan Smyth, they don't have much in that department. He might work out well for them.

His best year ever 06-07....18 G. 30 A. 48 PTS.....not enough production to offset his liabilities...he can provide a spark every now and then as long as he doesn't get carried away with the chippy play....Rangers have too much talent just waiting in the wings and his roster spot is too valuable to be wasted on a mediocre player...

I'd take a flyer on him (no pun intended). If he really wants to prove the critics wrong he'll show up, skate hard, agitate the opposition and keep his mouth shut. If not, then he gets banished to the minors. This would probably be his last shot. A team needing a good, skilled third-liner could do worse. This is all dependent on Avery living up to his statements about wanting to prove people wrong.
