08:05 AM ET 01.02 | The Steve Spagnuolo era hasn't quite gone according to plan for St. Louis, which lost on Sunday for the 38th time in the head coach's tenure. A few hours after Sunday's game came reports that both Spagnuolo and [Billy Devaney] will be fired. Team sources told the Post-Dispatch early Sunday evening that no decision had been made. But that didn't mean it wouldn't happen -- just that no decision had been reached at that point. Later Sunday evening, organizational sources indicated to the Post-Dispatch that some kind of decision will be rendered [Monday]. That could mean both Spagnuolo and Devaney are getting fired, or just Devaney.

I give Spags 48 hrs before he is picked up as DC by another team. And I DON'T want it to be the Eagles.

Jerry Jones...line 6 is for you!

Will someone from the Jaguars pick up line 7, please? Someone from Jaguars. Anyone except Mr Drew-Jones.

That leaves aisle 8 for the Chargers...

Let the coaching carousel get started. I can hear the circus music now.

There's a big green dumpster out back. Is that for the Jets?

It has their logo on it.

Gone: I've got Norv in San Diego, Cladwell in Indianapolis, Spagnuolo in St. Louis and Morris in Tampa
Not sure: Frazier in Minnesota, Bowles in Miami and Jackson in Oakland
Probably staying put: Crennel in Kansas City and Reid in Philadelphia
Coughlin saved his job by winning last night.

I've heard a lot of chatter that Caldwell will be retained, but the other 3 can start cleaning out their offices if they have not already started.

Any coach that takes the SD job if Smith is still there might as well resign the day after signing...Jackson gets one more year. A key for Oak is hiring a decent GM. Crennel is safe. Morris was gone even before that stunning display yesterday.

Upset special...If he refuses to make a change at OC, Shanahan may be given walking papers. Danny is like Bowlen...No problem paying ex-coaches.

Just threw all that out there to start the discussion. I don't like Caldwell. Not since he pulled his starters in the second half against the Jets (if memory serves me right) a couple of years back and cost his team a chance at going 16-0.

Rumors have Smith leave the Chargers so that should make that job more interesting. I won't argue the Shanahan angle. I know Danny doesn't care paying fired coaches. I didn't know it all hinged on the OC. I thought he'd stay put.

Got to remember big market teams don't change head coaches for the hell of it. not to mention Coughlin most likely would have had kept his job either way.

Not so sure about Coughlin. His teams have had the bad habit of collapsing late in the season since their Super Bowl win. Moot point this season anyway.

If Jackson does get to stay aboard, I bet it was his post-game tirade yesterday that deal the deal for him.

Excellent point. I'd always thought Shanny would get next season to square things away, but if he's unwilling to make a change at OC, it makes just about everything else moot as far as the offense is concerned.
