08:12 AM ET 01.03 | Jacksonville will waste little time. On the first day it could officially begin, the Jaguars were aggressive with their coaching search. The Jaguars requested and received permission to interview five NFL offensive coordinators on Monday -- Atlanta's Mike Mularkey, the New York Jets' Brian Schottenheimer, Carolina's Rob Chudzinski, sources confirmed. ESPN also reported the Jaguars will interview Denver's Mike McCoy and New England's Bill O'Brien. Interim head coach Mel Tucker is the only coach with a defensive background in line to interview so far. The interviews will begin as early as this week. ... Mularkey's experience developing Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is one thing that makes him intriguing to the Jaguars.

Search else where.

I don't think Brian Schottenheimer should be too high on that list. You saw what we was (or more accurate wasn't) able to do with a young but very mediocre QB in New York. They need a coach that will be able to implement a system to make Gabbert at least look adequate.

Mike Sherman just got canned at A&M. That's where I'd start looking.

The Jags need more production than they received from Gabbert. He didn't show any upward progression as the season went along.

They need at least two legit receivers to give the kid a realistic shot. That team has drafted very poorly at WR and on the D-line. They've spent a lot of resources for very little return.

Well there is 3 potential really good ones in this draft (Blackmon, Jeffery, Floyd) so they should easily be able to fill that hole and then see if Gabbert is any good or not.

Schottenheimer? Make it Marty Schottenheimer, and then I'll take this article a little more seriously.

Too small a market for such a big fish.

Those fans in that photo were hoping the autograph said "Jake Locker". Sadly, they were disappointed.

"Wider Net" translated; they're pretty much willing to take anyone.

Oh no we didn't...

Gabbert is the youngest player ever to start 13 games at QB, and he made a lot more "upward progression" than most of you got to see on the Sportscenter highlights. He had basically no time to build timing with a sorry lot of WRs - Justin Blackmon caught more TD passes in the Fiesta Bowl than any WR currently on the Jaguars roster. A full off-season with a new coaching staff and a couple of receivers, and Gabbert will be really good.

He certainly couldn't be any worse.
