08:19 AM ET 01.04 | If the Yankees aren't happy with giving away the farm for Matt Garza, they could turn to Edwin Jackson. The Yankees and Jackson aren't in any way close to a deal. But there seems reason to think they might find middle ground, as the Yankees like his arm and see him as a solid pitcher who could fill their need for a durable middle-of-the-rotation presence. ... Jackson is believed to be looking for a deal that pays him in the $15-to-17-million range annually. Agent Scott Boras has compared Jackson to C.J. Wilson, Mark Buehrle, John Lackey, A.J. Burnett and Derek Lowe in his book touting Jackson; all those pitchers received $14-to-17-million a year.

John Lackey, A.J. Burnett and Derek Lowe were also big mistakes. And I believe CJ Wilson and to a lesser extent Mark Buehrle will also be. Next year you could have Hammels, Shields or Cain. Save your money.

He might be worth half that.

Man! Mediocre pitching is expensive!

That average annual value would put him in the top 20 of all time.

He's out of his **** mind.

Anyone dumb enough to spend that much on a guy who hasn't shown he can win consitantly deserves what they get. C'Mon Yankees! Dive in, the water's fine!

That was exactly my thought when I read those names. They all got those dollars, but those contract were all horrible.
