08:16 AM ET 01.05 | One of the Angels' most productive bats will be on the shelf a little longer. Mark Trumbo said Wednesday that the stress fracture in his right foot will take about five months to heal, an extended timetable that will push the Angels slugger's rehabilitation right up to the start of spring training in late February. When Trumbo was first diagnosed with the injury in late September, he said he hoped to resume baseball activities by mid-November. But after being examined by Dr. Philip Kwong, a foot-and-ankle specialist, on Nov. 11, Trumbo was told to rest the foot for at least another month. But that timetable has been pushed back even further. ... [Trumbo] could be fighting for at-bats at designated hitter and third base this season.

So the last Angel 1B has been out with a bad ankle for 1-1/2 years and now this one is gone for an unexpected time. Look out Pujols, that bag may be cursed!

You could go back to the wasted Mo Vaughn years to find even more busted Halos at first base who never truly returned to form. At this point Mike may want to think about DHing Pujols.

I think I can safely say the vast majority of St. Louis hopes that bag is cursed.

I wouldn't say that. I don't think the majority of Cards fans wish any harm to Pujols. I think almost all Cards fans were surprised, disappointed and probably really annoyed that he left for the Angels, but I'd say the vast majority actually wish him well there. Maybe they don't want him to do as well there as he did here, but I doubt any are really hoping he gets hurt.

Sounds a little fishy...

Could it be that they'll be keeping Trumbo out of the spot light... maybe get him some extended Spring training and he'll materialize in the Outfield in May?

Pujols didn't sign to be a DH

January 5, 2012  02:01 PM ET

trumbo was injuried back in september with a broken foot!!

January 5, 2012  02:03 PM ET

morales took off 18 months off due to a broken ankle, it took him even longer thanks to the cheap material on the type of screws that the surgeon used!!

January 5, 2012  02:04 PM ET

it may take trumbo a year before he be able to resume baseball again!!!

January 5, 2012  02:06 PM ET

now what can the angels do? i mean who would protect pujols? morales or vernon wells? perhaps callaspo? about kendrick? a,b,c,d,? or all of the above?

January 5, 2012  02:09 PM ET

trumbo can't be a DH, because that's the same spot morales would be playing in the whole season, vernon wells will continue warming the bench, how lucky this guy could be get pay to stay in the bench!!!

January 5, 2012  02:13 PM ET

so yes the opposite teams wouldn't have any problem in disarm the halos, all what they have to do its pitch around pujols and take the bat away from him, did the rangers use the same approach against pujols when he was playing in st luis? in the american league would be the same thing pujols would became batless will walk more than in the national league!!

January 5, 2012  02:14 PM ET

trumbo will remain in the DL the rest of the season, why? because the DH spot its being taked!!

January 5, 2012  02:18 PM ET

it seems as if the angels have to be more creative in a ways to boost their offense, without trumbo could the angels bring the weak bat from mike trout? as far this player its the only answer to the halos, would he be able to drive as many runs as trumbo? that could be too much of a pressure for the rookie!!!

January 5, 2012  02:20 PM ET

the angels just hope that bobby abreu be able to regaing his old form when he was able to drive 100 r,b,i,s in every season plus hit at least 28 homeruns!!!

January 5, 2012  02:23 PM ET

tori hunter its declining very fast, plus this season would be he's last one, should we expect hunter hit about average? can he be able to hit at least 25 homeruns or 30 this year? lets not forget that this is his last year with the angels!!!

January 5, 2012  02:26 PM ET

my guess its,,, that ianetta may be able to drive 10 home runs, and about 50 r,b,i,s, how much its improved the catching spot? for sure the deffense will be in a limbo all because this catcher doesn't have jeff mathis experience!!

pujols wouldn't be a DH at least not for another 3 years or so!!

unless otherwise!!

January 5, 2012  02:58 PM ET

trumbo won't be able to play third base why? because he most likely will put more pressure in the right foot, the only spot that he could be able to play will have to be the OF!!!
