10:20 AM ET 01.08 | USC tailback Amir Carlisle is transferring to Notre Dame, his father told the South Bend (Ind.) Tribune. Carlisle, a freshman last season, was slowed by ankle and knee injuries but played in eight games. He rushed for 118 yards in 19 carries and had seven receptions, one for a touchdown. Under NCAA transfer rules, he will have to sit out next season and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining. Duane Carlisle told the Tribune that his son's move "definitely was a family decision."

Oh geez ... You guys STILL on that mantra??

It will forever follow USC. Mention SMU, and most still think death penalty, 30 years later.

Yeah, I'm afraid so, just like Ohio State and Penn State, it will take years and even then it will resurface.

Even 10/20/30 years from now, $Cam, Bush, Ohio State, Penn State, Miami and SMU names will come up, it's the nature of the media and fans.

I would guess he and his family felt that he would not see any action due to the level of competition at SC. This combined with the lack of scholarships available to the football team would translate to approx. $50,000 per year bill that his parents would need to pay out of pocket. Notre Dame has more scholarships available, and maybe he feels he could earn one there.

i dont think there is a school out there that hasnt bent the rules in their favor-obviously some more than others or they just got caught-even nd-all transfers arent about playing time(most not all)-sometimes it is about academics, camraderie,or social problems that takes away from the college experience-i feel bad for the students who have done nothing wrong and they are the ones that suffer(no bowl games) for the trangressions of a former coach, boosters and others who created the mess-a little off subject

the normal mantra for this situation is......

third or fourth string....rarely saw the playing field....not any good anyway...poor work ethic...glad to get him off the team....good luck to wherever he goes....etc
