Sabres not ready to shake up roster

10:47 AM ET 01.08 | The Sabres are in a rut. There's no denying that. They lost again Friday, their seventh setback in nine games. They haven't won consecutive games since mid-November, a drought that will hit the eight-week mark today. The extended malaise seems to scream for some sort of change, but anyone expecting a huge shake-up should stop holding his or her breath. In an interview with The Buffalo News following Friday's 4-2 loss to Carolina, General Manager Darcy Regier said no big changes are imminent. There are numerous players rumored to be on the trade market -- including Anaheim stars Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry and Bobby Ryan -- but price seems to be a sticking point.

And I'm guessing last night's loss to the Jets doesn't help.

Don't count on it. The Sabres are so stingy they only shop at the Salvation Army and Goodwill stores.

Shop? I thought they went there for handouts.

I get the jokes, but last time I checked the Sabres had the highest payroll in the NHL this season... so your comments don't really make much sense. Now, if you'd like to say they didn't spend that money all that wisely... you'd get no such argument from me.

Not any more. Their problem isn't the lack of spending, it's that they are right at the salary cap (it helps to have a billionaire owner)!

Really ??? No shake up ?? Then they better be prepared to be watching the playoffs instead of being in them !! Pegula is a great owner but he's too much of a Sabres nostalgia person and he's keeping Ruff and Regier for that reason which is insane. This team needs to get players with some grit and some intestinal fortitude if they want to get anywhere !!
