08:05 AM ET 01.09 | A season gone wrong in Chicago left longtime Chicago GM Jerry Angelo out of work and the Bears looking for a replacement along with three other franchises. Asked whether he could recall four GM positions being open at the same time, [New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese] told the Sun-Times: "Not off the top of my head, but that's the way this business is. It's a tough business. It's a 'show me' business, and you don't get any passes." ... Now the Bears are looking for Angelo's replacement, and Reese highlighted one of the Giants' personnel lieutenants, college-scouting director Marc Ross. Ross already has been interviewed by the Indianapolis Colts, and he might be one of the candidates for the Bears' vacancy.

He has done good things with the Giants. I hate to see him go, but he has earned the right to move up, and Reese is not going anywhere anytime soon.

The Bears already know who their next GM is going to be. They're dragging their feet so that when they announce the hiring of Tim Ruskell, they can claim to have done an "exhaustive search".

Currently, he holds the position of director of player personnel for the Bears, and he was being groomed by J.A. to possibly succeed him in the future; I think that was initially under the pretense that Jerry would eventually resign/retire, as opposed to being fired.

They have, but Ron Wolf and Ted Thompson are still in place. If they aren't the best front-office tandem in the league, they're pretty close to it.

A little frustrated is all. The Bears front office typically cheaps their way out of being competitive, and I fear their "search" for a GM will continue that tradition. Bears fans have to deal with a lot of ownership/front-office ineptitude in exchange for their loyalties.
