08:19 AM ET 01.09 | To hear some ACC coaches tell it, expansion wasn't first on their list of to-dos in a why-fix-what-ain't-broke league. Last season, two teams other than Duke and North Carolina represented the ACC in the NCAA tournament: Florida State and Clemson, which only got in as one of the last four teams selected because of the tournament expanding to a 68-team field. By contrast, the Big East received 11 bids. "That was a frustrating day," ACC Commissioner John Swofford conceded on Friday. "It wasn't a complete surprise but it was frustrating. There is no question that we need to rebuild the depth in our conference." ... Translation: On a national level since expansion, the ACC has become, for all intents and purposes, a two-team league.

ACC basketball is not what it used to be. Adding VA Tech, Miami, and BC just watered down the conference. Now the Cuse is good but I'm not excited about the addition of Pitt ( sorry Bluesuiter). Time will tell.

Yay. The ACC expanded to rebuild its basketball depth in a world dominated by football dollars.

The ACC has been a two team league recently mostly due to all the coaching changes throughout the rest of the league. The addition of Cuse and Pitt are nice and will certainly help, but expect NC State, Maryland, and even Wake Forest to get better in years to come. Will these teams win national championships? Doubtful. But neither do 10 out of the 11 Big East teams who make the tourny every year.

It's only a two team conference because recognition is never given to teams not named UNC or Duke. UVA is 14-1 and is #16 in the country. They beat Michigan (#13) fairly easily and beat LSU at LSU. UVA has the second best defense in the nation (ppg allowed). How is it a 2 team conference?

3 titles in 6 years and they proved it with a playoff (winning 6 games in a row). That could never happen in college football today.
