Vigneault predicts someone will hurt Marchand

08:23 AM ET 01.09 | Whatever Brad Marchand has coming to him from Brendan Shanahan, Alain Vigneault had another form of justice in mind on Sunday. The Boston Bruins winger will have a telephone hearing Monday with [Shanahan], which means the supplemental penalty can't be more than a five-game suspension. An in-house hearing would have meant a stiffer sentence. ... "Marchand -- this is just my feeling on this -- some day he's going to get it. Somebody is going to say enough is enough and they're going to hurt the kid, because he plays to hurt players and in my mind if the league doesn't take care of it, somebody else will. Sometimes it takes the league time to figure things out. ... Something needs to happen."

that was the worst officiated game ive ever seen...how can there be 6 guys on thornton and they end up with a 2 man advantage

January 9, 2012  08:45 AM ET

Well since they don't play each other again this season (unless of course they play for the Cup)...someone else will have to do Vancouvers dirty work....

So, I guess Horton deserved to be hurt last year. Sounds like that may have been a little pre-mediated now given that Alain is openly talking about hurting players that "deserve it".

QUOTE(#3):

The league knows who Marchand is, and I'm sure he'll answer the bell if anyone wants to hurt him. He hit a guy with a slew foot earlier in the year, knew he screwed up, and essentially allowed himself to be made a punching bag so as not to face retribution later. He mans up. This isn't an "Ulf" or "Claude" situation.

Or Rome. Or Biting Burrows. Funny, the 2 players that the Canucks went out of their way to try and hurt last year, one was the guy scoring OT goals and they finished his season with a cheap shot. The other guy they went after was the best faceoff guy in the playoffs, and they tried hurting his hand.

Maybe the Canucks should be looked at. It's all starting to make sense now.

To be fair Danny, everybody knows if you stick your fingers in burrows you might get bit.

Am I the only one who noticed the child behind Vigneault in the pic plugging his ears? Or is this an old picture that's been picked apart already?

Old photo. Torres is no longer with the Nux. And it has been mentioned before.

I was there on Saturday..

The refs lost control of the game on Saturday, and over compensated as a result...

Look this game has been on the NHL's calendar for months, everyone knows that Gary Bettman is a former NBA exec/lawyer, and was never an NHL or even a hockey guy...he hates fighting and he hates to see fighting in an NHL game on National TV....so don't underestimate the effect of that pressure on the Ref and the linemen in a game like that...they're human...

At the game last Saturday, the refs made multiple mistakes, one of which was throwing out Lucic, and the league has already admitted that mistake. He did not come off the bench and the Major, the penalty was not deserved, and the first goal by Vancouver was not deserved.

Having Marchand just take a call from Shanahans group and not have to go there in person says that it was not a a serious infraction. The clipping rule specifies a low hit to the knees, and seeing it live at the game and them from multiple angles it was clear the Salo incident was Marchand ducking to avoid the hit that he saw coming and he got Salo on the hip, not the knees as the Rule specifies. Another blown call and a player tossed...two more undeserved goals by Vancouver..

I guess however that spears to the throat and biting are, however, legal in the NHL and no penalties, fines, or suspensions are needed.

Oh and Ballards low hit on Campbell should be allowed as well...

Man up, Vigneault, when your players play clean so will the Bruins....the refs won the game for you guys Saturday, I hope to heck we dominate your team (and Luongo gets the stones to play us) when it really means something in the postseason....again....

Vigneault is a typical former Montreal coach, whining and complaining about everyone else's actions in the league with no accountability for his own players.

We have the Stanley Cup and no amount of whining changes that...

In that same altercation Danrick (or Henriel) was on the ice and in mid scrum when it started and he left the ice and was replaced by another Canuck. Either that or the Canucks had 6 on the ice when it all began?

I'm glad I had it recorded so I didn't waste a lot of time on it. My recently neitered cat has more nuts left than those refs.

The guy who called the low bridge on Marchand looks like the last traffic cop who gave me a speeding ticket. Some fat Sgt.....

"Vigneault predicts someone will hurt Marchand"

I predict AV will say something dumb again before year's end. We all know his IQ is about the size of birdseed...

January 9, 2012  11:06 AM ET

Once again, it needs to be asked - you won the game, why are you complaining?

You should read the local rags. Especially on-line.

Swampy and his Chet legions are all irate.

Brad Marchand is quickly becoming as despised around the league as the Averhole and Dan Cancerillo are. Thing is he's far more talented than they are to be running around doing all this nasty, chicken **** stuff. And, with Thornton, Krejci, Lucic and Chara around, he knows chances are slim somebody is going to hold him accountable.

The only solution I see to this awful "cancer" is for the Bruins to trade him ....... to Detroit! :-)

I was left scratching my head on that one. I am glad that the NHL rescinded the game misconduct on Lucic to avoid a suspension, but that didn't help the Bruins out any when they had to play without one of their best players for 2+ periods. AV needs to take inventory of his team before offering predictions on Marchand.

I didn't realize that David Krejci was a tough guy. Marchand has a lot of talent and a mouth to go along with it.

Now, maybe it's just me and I don't know what I'm doing, but if my team was in a game where I thought the other team was playing dirty and we beat them, I'd be happy. Instead of complaining, I would be throwing back in their faces. But, that's just me.

Really? I thought it was a pretty average night for the zebras by today's standards.

Get used to it my friend. Ineptness rules the day.

Oh, for the days of only one referee calling the shots!
