Time for depleated Pens to talk trade?

08:28 AM ET 01.09 | The Penguins are holding on tight to a playoff race while losing players. With another critical round of injury news the Penguins have reached a tipping point. ... The team's payroll is about $61.4 million; the NHL salary cap is $64.3 million. That doesn't leave a lot of room for the addition of a proven goal-scorer without giving up someone on the roster. General manager Ray Shero was out of town at scouting meetings and not available for comment, but Bylsma said the latest injury news was too fresh for the Penguins to have had organizational talks about trades. "We haven't really gone to [that] extent, but we understand where we're at," Bylsma said.

Time for depleated Pens to talk trade?

Is this a reference to their skirts?

You think?

We will be lucky to make the playoffs. 8th Seed in January and people dropping off like flies.

CEC was built on an Indian Burial Ground.

At this point, all we can do is continue to cheer them on.

But, if everybody is hurt, who do they have to trade? Cooke? Malkin? Or ... M.A. Fleury perhaps?

that cannot hold a candle to multiple past years of Duhryl managing your Teams drafts and trades. Injuries make it challenging, Idiots make it impossible.

There is the issue exactly roamer. They're not going to trade Fleury for sure. The jury is still out on Cooke. They're still hoping for Sid to come back (imho that ship has sailed....sorry DWI). They've got some great players but I'd use Malkin as the trade. I know that seems extreme but he'll demand the most return value.

That's what i was wondering. Who does anyone else want on that team, except for the people who are hurt (minus Malkin and Fleury). Someone gonna take Paul Martin and his 5 mil a year salary (so glad the Devils didn't offer that much).
They just have to weather the storm and wait for the troops to come back...whether that is this year or next.

And for who? Who is out there worth a Malkin trade? He, along with Neal, are the only ones scoring?

I am not being a wench, but since everyone seems to be the expert as to who we trade Malking for...

Anyone who could want off their team is up there in age, so trade Malkin who is 25ish/26ish?

I don't know.

Trade Fleury? People are high.

If the "ship has sailed on Sid," as you put it, they should announce soon, IMHO. But Sid probably doesn't seem to think so, hence why there hasn't been.

There are a couple of nice goal scorers on the Ducks that could help out.

Panic in Pittsburgh? Why not just wait and see what Crosby is going to be like first. Instead of trading players away that work well together chalk up this year. Fogetaboutit.

What I was saying is Malkin is who you'd get the best return for should you trade him.
I didn't say anything about being an expert.
And as much as I'd like to see Sid come back, in reality, most people, figure he's about one good hit from Lindrosville.

January 9, 2012  12:52 PM ET

If I were the Pens I might just bring up kids and make a decision down the road once I have a better idea of who stepped up, who isn't coming back anytime soon and what teams fall out of it. It's one thign to have a lot of injuries but when it's most of your best players it's difficult to compensate even with trades. Throw in other teams know you're desperate and you're at a big disadvantage.

As I put, I didn't mean to sound like a wench. I would like to know what everyone thought, but I knew my comment would come off as PMSing, which it might.

Has nothing to do with the Steelers lost, btw. Couldn't care less. Sometimes can't stand the Steelers. Rather see the Pens do well...obviously.

Phantom, I know...wouldn't mind having Getz, but who knows?

Which is exactly what I think Shero is gonna do. Knee-jerk reactions sometimes get ya in trouble.

Based on the past season, they can hold on til people get back. But I think this team is getting tired. I don't think there is anymore "holding on." I hate to see what might happen, if they "hold on."

You should care less. I had **** money on the Steelers. And it was a teaser and I only needed them to win by 2. That's what I get for depending on anything from Pittsburgh!
