08:28 AM ET 01.10 | Scott Arniel may not shoot or stop pucks, but the 11-25-5 record served as a bottom line. The next coach may actually benefit from this season's struggles: If the Blue Jackets finish with the worst record in the league, they will be guaranteed one of the top two picks in the June draft. ... The coaching change and the fact that [Scott Howson] still has control of the roster indicate that he still has the backing of Blue Jackets ownership. "Scott continues to serve at the pleasure of the majority owner," club president Mike Priest said. "He continues to have the same authority over hockey matters as he has in the past." But hockey operations senior adviser Craig Patrick -- hired three weeks ago -- hangs over Howson.

If you have to hire Craig Patrick to tell your GM what to do, you should probably just hire Craig Patrick as your GM.

Nash must be so happy he signed long term

Howson? Or .... Howsoon?

January 10, 2012  09:53 AM ET

"Scott continues to serve at the pleasure of..." is he a GM or Geisha ?

Howsoon ... do I put my house up for sale and start packing?

It should be no surprise Columbus is where they are at. Howson came from the Oilers and learned his GMing skills from Kevin Lowe.

Good one Roamer. I would say the Howsoon is before the draft.

HC! You do not mix anything with a good single malt. They have lowland malts and blends for that.

How in the name of god does Scott Howson keep his job. As he has done nothing with this team from day one. They need to fire him, bring in a new GM and all other Coaching staff and Scouts
And trade Rick Nash before it's to late. He would be a good fit for the Edmonton Oilers as they need size and we have some good young players and draft picks to make a good trade. I would do this deal in a second as it would be a win win for both teams

That would be very nice if it happened but it won't. The three kids arn't going anywhere and Columbus would have no interest in anything else the Oilers have.

Agree with 1 exception - i add ice cubes

Sounds like a job for the Captain of the Titanic...

January 11, 2012  12:21 PM ET

the problem with the columbus franchise is OSU. if it doesn't say 'BUCKEYE' o it the people here just don't care. If they could get a winning team it may peak some more fan base, but unfortunately, this is still a buckeye town. sad but true. perhaps the should rename the team the "Buckeye Jackets" then it may draw more interest.

Crappy no couth Calgarians...so much spare cash so little manners. The only thing that should touch a single malt between the bottle and your tongue is a glass( clean one HC). If you like your malt cold freeze the glass first.
