NCAA season ends ugly

08:20 AM ET 01.10 | Though folks in Tuscaloosa will argue, the end of a most tumultuous season, for some, only added to an unsatisfying season. It was a college football season besieged by scandal and controversy, week after week of NCAA infractions, conference realignment back stabbings and sexual molestation charges. And it got a championship game befitting of the unpleasantness. Alabama won the BCS national title Monday, defeating LSU, 21-0, in a tough-on-the-eyes field goal-fest. The championship will taste just as sweet in Tuscaloosa, and Alabama's defense should be toasted forever. For fans of college football uneasy with the matchup to begin with, though, this was a dud of a conclusion.

The whole bowl season was butt ugly. There were only 3 bowls compelling enough to watch ... Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and Cotton Bowl. The rest were uninteresting ... except of course if you were a homer of the teams.

I have an idea, would you guys like one season where SEC teams can't compete for the national championship? That way one of the little squirt teams can be champs. We will just play to see who wins the national championship. Although we would all still know the winner of the SEC would have won the national championship game. Must suck not to be in the SEC and play in the squirt conferences like the Pac12 or is it 14 or 16?, the big 10 or 12? The ACC? *snicker*. sorry folks but SEC SEC SEC!!!!!!!

I guess there is going to be epic butthurt from some quarters.

Alabama played the game. They don't have to make you like the spectacle, but they won it and played very well to win it against one of the best defenses ever. It just so happens the defense that LSU was facing is probably one of the best, if not the best defenses ever.

Congrats JK. Saban and company gave McCarron a little more leash and he paid big dividends. And in other news, I need the Saints to keep winning so that my wife's mood will change :)

When we are subjected to games where damn near half of the teams (and in a few games, both teams) had "interum" coaches, then something is seriously wrong with the bowl system.

Alabama played great football. They showed what great teams do in championship games. Anybody who does not appreciate that is following the wrong sport.
If all you are looking for is a close game decided in the last second, then Arena football serves better.
LSU played bad because the other team left them no other choice.
