08:01 AM ET 01.11 | Hue Jackson, perhaps somewhat understandably, felt betrayed. [Jackson] wanted more power, and he wound up with no power. He's out after going 8-8 in his only season as Raiders head coach. Jackson, who is friends with new G.M. Reggie McKenzie, was stunned by the development. "He's going to gut this place," Jackson told [CSNBayArea.com]. ... "He [McKenzie] wants to bring in his own guys. No job is safe right now." That sounds like a promising development for the Raiders. While some will connect Jackson's firing with the instability of the last decade in Oakland, McKenzie is making a clean break from the past. Raiders fans should want a fresh start, with changes at every level of the coaching staff and management.

The RAIDahs....

January 11, 2012  08:06 AM ET

Was Hue "pissed"?

January 11, 2012  08:07 AM ET

Only time will tell. This housecleaning may end up being a setback for the Raiders, who seemed to be getting it together before they got hit by injuries last year. Still, they've been kind of disfunctional for years,

January 11, 2012  08:13 AM ET

I thought the setback would be trading away virtually all your draft picks for a washed up quarterback and an unproven one

January 11, 2012  08:15 AM ET

Go somewhere else and extract your revenge, Hue...

True, but it seems the J-e-T-S are making a run for dysfunctional No. 1.

On Campbell or Palmer?

Careful - Al is watching!

One guts dead fish, Hue. Get a clue.

Forgot about him... With all those picks, they could draft another team.

Hue come to ATl

January 11, 2012  08:41 AM ET

This can only be a positive step for the Raiders, Al is gone, new GM, maybe it will be run like a NFL franchise...

Yep so maybe they can save some money by not scouting anybody projected to go in the first 5 rounds

I agree with you. In that division they did not need a lot of change to win. With all of the problems at seasons end, they still had a chance for the play offs.

A fresh start is exactly what the Rai-duhs need. Good move by McKenzie. If Davis really stays out of his way like he's promised, McKenzie will right the ship.

January 11, 2012  08:50 AM ET

Hue, you were 8-8, a winning percentage of .500. Go over to the next post to learn that you gotta have at least a .542 to get two NFL teams to drool over you. Maybe next time, dude.

January 11, 2012  08:59 AM ET

Well, the job of da GM is to Run da Show, let's see what he does, Jeff Fisher?

it says: "Jackson who is friends with Mckenzie......."

Should read: "Jackson who WAS friends with Mckenzie......"
