Marchand: 'Smart enough to win a Cup'

08:33 AM ET 01.11 | Brad Marchand, who began his five-game suspension Tuesday, dismissed comments that came from the Canucks after the Bruins forward's low hit on Sami Salo that lead to the time off. On defenseman Kevin Bieksa's comments that the B's do "stupid" things? "Ah, yeah, we play stupid. We play stupid," he said with a shake of the head. "I guess we're smart enough to win a Cup, but whatever he feels." And of the 6-on-1 pileup on Shawn Thornton in the first period of the game, he said: "Yeah, they had six or seven guys on the ice at that point and they jumped Thornie. No one seemed to want to do anything once they got pulled off. It shows their character."

Bruins and Rangers right now are the teams to beat in the East.
Congrats to Nucks for winning a regular season contest in Beantown, but I suspect they will implode again come playoff time. If the Nucks players and coaches feel whining is to their advantage, then have at it.

Not that i'm really against anything he's saying, but he really needs to stop talking. Real champs make one quick snarky remark (ala rings in ears) and think no more of it. Brad, you made a dangerous play in a game you knew everybody was watching. Just serve your time and get back out on the ice. The more you antagonize karma, the more likely you will be subjected to it.

Marchy got what he deserved.. the Canucks should really just be quiet now. They are relentless in their whining. From the coach on down.. just zip it.
