Players chose money over safety

08:14 AM ET 01.12 | Injuries mount, but the season rolls on. Who exactly was looking out for the players when this 66-game blender was set on puree? It couldn't have been the coaches, who live for training camp. It couldn't have been the trainers, who stress the significance of recovery. Even the owners have recognized the difficulties in selling home games on the consecutive nights. But, foremost, what about the players? What about the union signing off on this recalibrated mayhem, with Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion and others already questioning the scheduling bedlam in recent days, as well as the injury fallout? As always, money talked. "It came down to that," said Heat forward James Jones.

Isnt being in shape part of the game?

Someone forgot to tell Eddy Curry that - Has he even played yet in Miami or is he on permanent display at the Miami Subs sandwich shop?

It's all about managing the schedule.. Sit some players some nights. Let the bench play more, or better yet start the bench and reverse the role...

Hey I think Jarred (of subway fame) would take ofence with that. He can be perm with Golden Corral or Polio Tropical (restaurant chain in Miami) or something.

You have a point and a good strategy but the fact that even needs to be considered should tell us that this schedule is inhumane.

I think calling it "inhumane" is a little bit of a stretch.

On a slightly different subject, I am amused to no end when I look at the HEAT boxscore and I see Curry DNP - Inactive.

I picture him laying on a couch asleep and snoring, with his feet and legs hanging off the end. He has an open Doritos bag on his chest, and McDonalds and Skittles wrappers lie all around. Now that is Inactive.

He probably is down at the Miami Subs. All the wings and hush puppies he can eat.
