08:32 AM ET 01.12 | Even a few days after the BCS title game isn't too early to wonder about next season's No. 1. Until the Crimson Tide get beat, they will remain on top as the defending BCS national champions. They'll lose a ton of talent on defense to either graduation or the NFL Draft -- Courtney Upshaw, DeQuan Menzie, Mark Barron, Dont'a Hightower and Dre Kirkpatrick may have all played their last game in Tuscaloosa. But we all know how Nick Saban reloads, and there are always replacements ready to step in, including young defenders such as defensive backs Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix and Dee Milliner. And the team's offense will be better despite the likely loss of Heisman Trophy finalist Trent Richardson. Eddie Lacy certainly has the talent.

hard to imagine them getting better without Trent Richardson in the backfield.

And when Mark Ingram left? Only the names change, not his program.

A plug-it-in for sure.

And polls I see, time after time, rank Alabama with the number one recruiting class for 2012. NFL reports claim their kids transition to the pro game better than any other school because of Saban and his coaching.

Lacy is good but not as good as TR and Ingram. Bama is losing a good chunk of its front 7 on D. 2 starting WRs.

It won't take as long for Bama to lose their first game in 2012. Without a potent defense like they had. Other SEC teams will eat them up. Be glad you won it this year as you won't be there next year.

So your prediction is they will lose to either Michigan in their opener or 2 weeks later to Arky?....after that there is no one to challenge them until their rematch with LUS on Nov. 3 for the NC....

September 15th....in Fayetteville. Yet another chance for Arky to take that next step and try to establish themselves as a true competitor for the SEC championship.

Give us a double-digit lead in the 4th again, and I like Arky's chances. Wilson will not spit the bit like Mallett did.

BIG ballgame........already can't wait
