LeBron still shrinking in big situations

08:12 AM ET 01.13 | California, particularly Los Angeles, was far from kind to LeBron James earlier this week. Without being mean or mordant, what are we to make of James' repeated breakdowns? Befuddled by the Clippers' zone defense, I guess, he looked like a John Deere in the Hollywood headlights on the welfare line, aborting 8 of 17, but especially in the final moments (2 of 4) of regulation. ... James seemed so shaky, so self-conscience, so nervous waiting for the referee to hand over the ball, he shook my hands and rattled my brain. His body language was eminently decipherable: face contorted; lips twitched; eyes darted; receding hairline retreated deeper into the darkness of his headband; and nails begged to be bitten.

This is not new news... moving on!

What are we to make of it? There's no mystery here... it's called choking in the big time. It's one of his most consistent talents.

LBNique has turned choking into his personal signature.

To his credit he didn't completely choke this time. At least this game he tried and just couldn't make freethrows. progress from being scared to touch the ball in the forth quarter. He makes his free throws he wins the game........

Wow....the post with some colorful hate........Just sayin- if we all think/agree lbj can't step up in the clutch....Why does everyone keep harping on it and EXPECT him to?

Cos he's a blasphemous arrogant son of a Tammy who calls himself king; doesn't respect nobody and acts and plays as if he's better than jail.

Biggest player in the NBA making a bazillion dollars and he misses some gimmes at the end of a game they should have won... That's the worst possible way to choke away a game.

All by yourself... no one bothering your shot.. the easiest shot outside of a wide open layup and he gags like he's slurping a horse caulk. He just can't handle his own awesomeness and collapses under the weight of the crowds expectations.

He should be forced to surrender his pay for the game.

When asked why he was shrinking in big situations, Lebron replied "It was cold, It never happened to me before!"

To which the reporter responded "I meant ON THE COURT!"

I agree he should be making those free throws. But if it's worth anything i'm glad he was aware enough this time to at least try to win the game and not play hot potato with the basketball.

Guy misses a few free throws and its an indictment of him in big situations. Jeez. I hope the Heat win a ring this year just so the media and some hater **** fans can get off the man's back. Damn...

The Heat will never have a ring that they "earn"

Any ring they might stumble upon will forever be one they bought and stole with Sterns help.
