Whitney considering 'uncertainty of a lockout'

08:28 AM ET 01.13 | Ray Whitney, like teammate Shane Doan, would like to stay and win in Phoenix. But he is also in the last year of his contract, and he will turn 40 in May, and his uncertainty goes beyond even the Coyotes' ownership situation. ... He could help a contender -- in Phoenix or elsewhere -- and knows he might not have another chance at a Stanley Cup. "Obviously, at my age, with the uncertainty of a lockout next year, the uncertainty of nothing here, if it doesn't look like we're going to make it, then yeah, absolutely, I would like a chance at it," said Whitney, who has a modified no-trade clause, requiring him to give the Coyotes a list of eight teams upon request. "If there is a lockout, that's probably going to be it for me."

Is Whitney the only one? YIKES! Maybe he should get one of those chain letters going to remind the rest of them mindless chets what they stand to loose during a lockout if the Fehrer has his way.

Bunch of mindless leamers!

What are the huge issues in the next CBA anwyays ?? I've only heard that the owners want the pie cut almost evenly this time around...and that the player want the escrow thing gone and they wanna play in the Olympics...there shouldnt be another lock-out if thats the case.

What I heard is the cap is to high, and of course who gets what piece of the pie...also heard the owners what the UFA age raised a little again. Guess going from 31 to potentially 25 was to much of a jump.

Unlikely. He wants to win.

Why do you think he wears the number 13?

He's a huge Steve Nash fan!

This TR made me go look at the Yotes roster. Ugh. No wonder their attendance is weak, Exhibit A for contraction of several teams

I don't know, going from ESPN to Versus to the QVC Home Shopping Network seems like an upward trajectory to me.

Dementia has already set in for old man Whitney. Yes I'm sure the NHL will lockout again because it worked so well the last time. And the Obamao economy is working swimmingly with 17% real unemployment. And the NBA lockout = no market for the NHL to capitalize on.

NHL lockout next year season has much chance of happening as the NFL this season: none.

Anyone talking about this is no better than a manbearpig global warming alarmist.

He sure could. Superman has nothing on Ray "The Wizard" Whitney!

As long as the Fehrer get his cut. The rest is irrelevant.

Ray has carved out a nice, long career for himself, with a ring to retire with.
