Odom: Media treatment 'unfair'

06:41 AM ET 01.14 | Not surprisingly, Mavericks forward Lamar Odom caught public flak for telling a Sports Illustrated reporter after Wednesday's game in Boston: "I'm not prepared, I guess, to play. I don't know if there is anything more to say.'' Before tonight's game against Milwaukee, Odom said he was just being honest with the reporter about off-the-court, offseason issues that affected his preparation for the season. Odom said he doesn't appreciate having his honesty backfire by having one quote singled out above the rest. "Things happened to me that took me away from the game," Odom said. "Some people might look at it as 'You just chose not to do anything.' And that's not right. "And that's not right for him (the writer) to kind of put that in the air, not when I'm being honest with him in what's going on in my life. It was a cheap shot. That was bad writing. It was unfair. Unjust."

Well... keep you mouth shut and go bang you plump wife.

Lamar Odom has had a terrific career. I am guessing he will be able to re-group and contribute in a major and positive way to the Mavs' effort to defend their title. Yeah, it's an abbreviated season, but there's still a long way to go.

By the way, I understand that the Kardashian sisters don't exactly shy away from the spotlight, but why does Lamar Odom's personal life deserve a disrespectful mention?

Lamar Odom is really becoming a headcase. Makes you wonder what's really going on behind the scenes that has his head so damn messed up?

January 14, 2012  11:30 AM ET

I really want to believe something's going on with him that we just don't know yet. I know being traded hurt but he's holding on to that for a little too long now.

January 14, 2012  11:31 AM ET

I think Lamar will come around eventually and get his head back into the game.

I do too...

He'll be fine.

Lets see....... A DC Stripper , married to a Kardashian , getting caught with the stripper, Khloe finding out about the stripper. Lammy (Khloes name for Lamar)might not be focused on his NBA game .

You can only blame yourself for your current problems Odom. If you were a professional like Gasol you would still be a Laker.

Man, you people are brutal. Yes he over reacted to the trade and you would think a vet like him would understand it's business but it's understandable that he would have been in a fragile state of mind. He lost his mom at an early age, lost his grandma who raised him a few years ago, lost his 6 month old baby son to SIDS a few years ago, then over the summer his cousin gets murdered and a car he is riding hits a motorcycle and kills a guy. Who wouldn't have issues after all that. The guy needs some help, not vilification for being weak minded.
