Conflicting reports on Fisher-Dolphins falling out

08:07 AM ET 01.14 | Jeff Fisher seemed headed to the Dolphins throughout the day Wednesday but intense negotiations with the Dolphins, particularly club owner Stephen Ross on the power structure of the organization could not be resolved so Fisher opted to go to St. Louis. According to an NFL source close to Fisher, Ross was not willing to give Fisher power over the entire football operations, including veto power of decisions by general manager Jeff Ireland. A club source tells me Fisher never requested full authority over the Dolphins. Source says club's understanding was that Fisher and Ireland would work together, agreeing mutually on personnel.

Fisher wanted the final say on personnel matters, and Stephen Ross didn't want to go that route.
Word is Fisher gets to have a say in the GM selection in St. Louis. That would make any coach happy.

Jeff Ireland should have packed his bags w/ Sparano... they came as a package deal and should have gone the same way... do I detect a taint of rotten TUNA?

I read an article where Fisher implied that for years he had to fight Bud Adams and Floyd Reese to get what he thought he needed personnel-wise. He didn't want to draft Vince Young, and as a consequence had to say good-bye to Steve McNair, among other details. If he does get a say in the GM vetting process, that would be a sweet deal for him after 17 years of banging his head against a wall in those matters.

St Louis would seems to be the right choice. More control and a QB who is quite capable.

Jeff Ireland may be a great GM, but I have not been impressed with his drafts the last couple of seasons. The Dolphins need more than Ireland or Fisher can offer to get them back to the playoffs.

Hey 50 YEAR FAN; I always respect your opinion - what is the deal with all the hype about this guy? It's not his fault that he's a "wanted man", but I think he owes a % of his salary to Bud Adams because I think his best quality is that he was in one place for a very long time. I'm not saying the guy isn't good, but I don't get why he's high on everyone's list???

I have a suggestion for an article:
How about my new almost favorite player... Tim Teebow? Have you heard of him? I was at my kid's Jr. Canadian hockey game last night (yes, they won, thanks for asking). Anyway, one of the kids scored and he does the Teebow pose. Pretty funny, hopefully not done with a mean spirit.
