Nothing was expected to be solidified immediately, but a league source said the Diamondbacks have interest in the 16-year journeyman, who turns 39 in May. Colon started 26 games last season for the New York Yankees, going 8-10 with a 4.00 ERA with 40 walks and 135 strikeouts in 1641/3 innings.

You can never be sure just what you'll get from this guy but could be low risk for someone.

How pathetic is FN? Yankees finally make moves ( not crazy about the moves ) and this is what they decide to put up as part of a Yankee thread?

Pitch Colon until the end of June, bring him back in Sep, for playoff run, he pitched well for the Yankees, ran out of Gas in July, yanks kept on pitching him, should have rested him!!!

Hard to take a guy whose name is "Colon" seriously, though, ya know?

You never know if he's going to play like scheiss.

QUOTE(#5):

Bart at a vet minimum is a good sign.- put in a weight clause bonus and you might get even more out of him(ps- he looked waif-like next to cc last year)

He looked good for the Yanks in the 1st half but pitching winter ball in order to prove himself and get a contract hurt him the 2nd half of the year as that helped him wear down.

I don't think I've ever heard of Colon referred to as waif-like though.

QUOTE(#4):

Not sure about pineda - haven't seen him pitch much since he's out west, but there is talent...he's young and thorws hardI did like what I saw out of Montero- but its easier to find a DH than a young pitcher with potentialKuroda as a 1 year FA is a good move- whether he stinks or is good- there are no long term repercussions

Not sure pitching was their problem. An every day DH. I really liked Montero. So teach him to play RF someday. Jeesh!

the dbacks are thinking in the past, why would this franchise should sign colon when he its too old already? whatever happen to sanders? i thought sanders its way too young than colon??

montero was a good trade for the mariners, but the best part goes to the stingy yankees, i could said that this its the best trade that the yankees have pulled untill now, pineda its young and has plenty talent so the yankees will have a heck of a rotation!!!

I don't know about the D-Backs thinking on this one. They traded a young stud pitcher, Parker, for Cahill, who most people think benefits greatly from having pitched in Oakland. They released a guy with Cahill-like talent, Saunders. So, they let Saunders go, and replaced him by trading a young potential No. 1 starter for an overrated guy (and let us not forget that few A's pitchers carry over that success when they leave Oakland). Now, they want to sign a 38-year-old Colon? Really?

I think the yanks know they will likely need to put jeter and arod at dh a fair # of games, hitting over 162 games, shouldn't be an issue CLUTCH hitting was

Must be you are right. There is no DH now and if Jones is your fourth OF? Yuk!
