08:45 AM ET 01.16 | Once the NHL's top scorer, Claude Giroux has fallen well off the pace since suffering a concussion. You can see how frustrated [Giroux] is these days just by his body language on the ice. One goal in his last 10 games. Two since coming back from a concussion. Worse, he's minus-6 in his last four games. That's not the Giroux who has led or been among the NHL scoring leaders all season. "It's not really about the stats, it's knowing that I can play better," Giroux said. ... Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said the coaching staff has talked to Giroux about trying to relax through this slump. Players often shoot more to get out of slumps. Giroux had five shots and logged 25 minutes ice time against Nashville.

Frustration mounts for slumping Giroux

In hockey jargon it's called pulling a Kessel.

I believe we're in Kessel's annual disappearing act as we speak. It's already killing me.

Only this year he took Lupul with him for company.

It's a lonely ride. Someone has to carry the waffles...

A "team" relies on more than two guys to score. You can't tell me Bozak was the driving force for the top two guys, and the whole thing with the second line not scoring got old in November. Fix it now Burke, or prepare to draft.

What's the matter Danny? Your Leafs are in the perfect spot in the East, 9th place. They miss the playoffs and get the worst draft spot possible. lol

Some players just get caught up in the stats.

January 16, 2012  01:19 PM ET

The hockey gods are mad at Giroux for not respecting the game more.

Remember when the NHL had these great ideas to speed the game up? Maybe it's time they re-examined some of those choices and rule changes. It might keep some of the best players on the ice...

Bad example in this case since he was concussed by his own teammate...

Typical impatient Hab fan..

I just meant how Stamkos started last season in a blaze of glory, people were throwing out ridiculously impossible possibilities (50 in 50, etc) and then he just kinda went thud for a while. Giroux wasn't as torrid, but he was doing much better than he has in the past month or so. Of course, he missed a couple games....

I disagree with the Stamkos comparison but thanks for the explanation...and oh, by the way...1967!!!

Lupul usually disappears around October so for him it was an overachieving year already
