Knicks taking close look at Nash

08:18 AM ET 01.18 | Fire up the Steve-Nash-to-the-Knicks machine again. The team's need for a point guard has never been clearer than in this three-game skid, and [Wednesday] they welcome the Suns and [Nash]. ... The Knicks just need to look at the other bench tonight to see what their offense is supposed to look like. Nash -- who ran D'Antoni's system to perfection -- was averaging an NBA-high 10.1 assists before [Tuesday] night's 118-97 loss to the Bulls, even though he will turn 38 next month. That's why The Post has reported the Knicks plan to target Nash -- along with Jameer Nelson and Raymond Felton -- with this summer's $5 million mid-level exception.

Don't really get the point, he is gonna decline soon, and they still will not be a good defensive team.

Nash is damn near 40, why would anyone be interested in signing him? His defense is suspect and he wont be around to help in the future. Unless your a contending team and need just one piece to assist in carrying over for an extended player you don't mess with Nash. Unfortunately, Nash will be another of those great players that won't win an NBA championship ring, unless he coat tails a ring or piggy back a ring.

I'll pass on Nash, unless he is willing to come off the bench. Get Ray Allen..

So... am I to understand that Tyson Chandler wasn't the defensive solution they had hoped for?

It's the coach...

If they were to go after Nash -- seems like they would do it this year before trading deadline.

Someone said yesterday to offer Shumpert for Nash ... if I were Knicks, I would not do that.

I don't think Ray is what they need. They need someone to run the offense -- and ideally a good pick & roll guy if D'Antoni is still there.

Tyson helps them inside on defense. He's not the complete solution.

I know... my weak joke had to do with the fact that it was a "given" here locally that Chandler brought a defensive mindset to the Mavs that did not exist before last season.

Maybe... the coach had a little to do with it also.
