Tortorella on owner's comment: Bunch of [bull]

08:31 AM ET 01.18 | John Tortorella's message had been clear and consistent. [Tortorella] has gotten the Rangers to the top of the NHL standings by preaching a game-by-game approach, so when Garden chairman James Dolan held an impromptu postgame press conference Tuesday night and said the Rangers were "pretty close" to winning a Stanley Cup, the Blueshirts coach couldn't watch idly as his message was undercut. "Right now up to this point we've done a pretty good job -- we just have to go about our business," Tortorella said after the Rangers shut out the visiting Predators, 3-0, and Dolan had left the room on the Garden's fifth floor. "Like I have my owner up here talking about a Stanley Cup. That's a bunch of [bull]. We need to take one game at a time."

Speaking as a Rangers' fan, I like this approach. Maybe he doesn't want what happened to The Jets (an overconfident blowhard puffing everyone up) to happen to The Rangers?
do the Rangers look good? Absolutely, (except in Montreal it seems) but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. It isn't even the All-Star break yet...

The most successful teams in pro sports seem to be the one's with the philosophy of taking it one game at a time.

Jimmy sounds like he should own the Leafs.

lOVE YOUR SPUNK AND SPIRIT TORTS............but pick your spots buddy ;-)

Gotta side with Tortorella here. He may have some strange ideas on coaching but he has his team at the top. Dolan should just zip it and smile and enjoy the ride. Let the coach and players do their job.

Hey he's a team owner. Everything that team owners say is (nonsense)

He spent last summer at "The Jerry Jones School of Ownership."

I can't believe it. I agree with Torts.

Tortorella has the right idea ...he's won a cup ...he knows what he needs to do to get through a long grinding NHL season...and still have enough in the end to be successful...the last thing he needs with this young team is to have them think they're a shoe in....

And as far as Dolan is concerned ....please stay the phuq out of the lockeroom...and please keep your mouth shut...you haven't a phuqing clue in the world about sports.....go sit in the corner and tune your guitar....

Agreed.

Unbelievable. Owners should just sign checks and leave the work to professionals who, unlike them, know what they are doing.
