There's a case to be made for sitting Rose

08:06 AM ET 01.19 | It was Kevin Kolb who not long ago pointed out that a toe injury sounds so much less serious than it is, but some believe a sprained left big toe should keep Derrick Rose on the bench a little longer. C.J. Watson is a more-than-capable backup. He would start for a lot of teams. John Lucas III and veteran Mike James give the Bulls more quality depth. That's why, barring a miracle recovery, Rose should sit out Friday when the Bulls visit the Cleveland Cavaliers and Saturday when the New Orleans Hornets visit the United Center. ... For the sake of argument, let's say they lose both games with Rose in a suit rather than a uniform. Wouldn't you rather be 13-5 with a healthy Rose than 15-3 with Rose still hobbled by an injury?

......Sit him for 2 games and get him healthy.

He's already sat for two game.....but yeah, they need to rest him and take their chances vs the Cavs and Hornets.

Still.....it's very possible that they'll hammer those teams the way they hammered the Suns without Rose ;-) .

I don't care that he scored 25 against a terrible team (while virtually being ignored by the defense), John Lucas III is NOT "quality depth." Neither is Mike James for that matter. That being said, CJ Watson IS a starter on some teams and the Bulls would be wise to sit Rose for this easy stretch of games, even if my fantasy team suffers...
